Poker Players Are Miserable Pricks!!!
The Upper Hand #6

Poker players can be miserable pricks.
I’ve been one of them, anti-sweating some reg that I don’t even know.
Celebrating when they get two-outed in the biggest spot of their career.
The epitome of schadenfreude - pleasure derived by someone from another person’s misfortune - for those who may be unfamilar!
It’s pretty messed up when you think about it.
Over the course of many years, it’s something I actively attempted to cut and to instead take inspiration from those having success I could only dream about.
If they can do it, why couldn’t I?
Listening to Robert Greene several months ago, he tossed out a phrase “Mitfreude” coined by Nietzche in 1878.
Directly translated, it’s “joy with” meaning that we literally feel joy when other people have something good happen to them.
It’s easy when you see a reg playing your stakes bink off a 6-figure score to think “damn they run soo good” “why not me?” “Do you even study?”.
If you can flip your mindset to truly be happy for people who have success, I believe it not only makes you a happier person but someone who is more likely to enjoy their own success stories.
Not just in Poker, but in any walk of life.
Talk tomorrow you beautiful fucks
